Additionally, the College Credit Plus program with Lakeland Community College has seen remarkable growth, with 326 students earning an estimated $1.4 million in tuition savings by attempting over 3,300 college credits this year.

The board recognized the first recipients of the Jack B. Sawyer Memorial Scholarships, awarded to Sophie Valentine and Kristin Roziak, further highlighting the community's commitment to supporting student success.
In a show of commitment to service, eight seniors were honored during the Coleman Spring Zonaville Military Commitment Ceremony for their decision to join the United States Armed Forces. This event reflects the values of service and dedication that the Mentor community instills in its youth.
The board also discussed the importance of experiential learning, noting that over 430 seniors are participating in the long-standing senior project program, which allows students to gain real-world experience and build professional networks. Furthermore, eighth graders from Shore and Memorial Middle Schools recently returned from a trip to Washington, D.C., where they engaged with historical sites that enriched their social studies education.
In the arts, Mentor High's theatre program concluded its 101st season with a successful run of the musical "9 to 5," while the Fine Arts Center showcased the creative talents of students through various exhibitions and performances. The community also celebrated the achievements of students in the Ohio PTA Reflection State competition, where Shore students excelled in all five arts categories.
As the school year wraps up, the board reminded families that kindergarten registration for the 2025-2026 school year is underway, encouraging parents to enroll their children for the upcoming fall. With commencement scheduled for June 1, the community looks forward to celebrating the achievements of its graduating seniors and supporting the continued growth of all students in the Mentor Public Schools.
