Fifth Graders Transition to TMS with Eighth Grade Guidance and Fundraiser Success

The Talawanda Board Meeting held on May 15, 2025, highlighted several key achievements and events within the district, showcasing the accomplishments of students and staff.

The meeting began with a celebration of fifth graders from across the district who visited Talawanda Middle School (TMS) on May 9 to prepare for their transition to middle school. Eighth graders served as tour guides, leading activities that fostered social development and teamwork.

Next, the Kramer report detailed the success of the annual Kramer Mile fundraiser, which raised $13,001 for the Parent Teacher Group (PTG). The event saw enthusiastic participation from parents and community members as students made their way to Millett Hall.

The meeting also recognized the achievements of Talawanda High School (THS) students. The academic challenge team, consisting of Olive Rice, Dale Tilton, Julian Danoff, and Victor Lee, achieved a historic ninth-place finish in the Ohio academic contest. Additionally, students Melody Miao and Shri Lin Chen excelled in the Ohio Center for Law Related Education State moot court competition, with Melody receiving accolades as a top advocate.

A heartfelt farewell was delivered by Anna Moller, the outgoing state FFA president, while Abby Garland was elected as the new Ohio FFA state secretary, marking a significant moment for the agricultural education program. The FCCLA state conference also saw students Olivia Naiman, Bailey Reed, Peyton Kolb, and Sienna Wetzel earn state degrees, with many qualifying for nationals.

The meeting concluded with the Marshall report, emphasizing the growth and progress made throughout the year, thanks to the dedication of staff and support from families and community partners. Overall, the meeting underscored a strong sense of community and achievement within the Talawanda School District.
