Ogden High's soccer team celebrates back-to-back undefeated state championships

The Ogden City School District Board of Education meeting on May 15, 2025, highlighted the remarkable achievements of the Ogden High School boys soccer team, which celebrated an undefeated season and secured back-to-back state championships. The meeting commenced with a presentation by Coach Scott, who brought the team to the forefront to acknowledge their accomplishments.

Coach Scott proudly announced that the team not only won the region championship but also achieved a perfect record of 18 wins this season, marking their second consecutive state title. He noted that the team has now won 27 games in a row, just three victories shy of tying the state record across all divisions. The coach expressed confidence in the team's potential to reach this milestone, despite the challenges posed by a tough preseason schedule.

In a heartfelt speech, Coach Scott thanked his family, particularly his wife, for her unwavering support throughout his coaching career. He acknowledged the sacrifices made by his family and expressed gratitude for the encouragement from his children. He also recognized his coaching staff—Steve, Brian, and JJ—for their dedication and hard work, emphasizing that their collective efforts have been crucial to the program's success.

The coach praised the players for their commitment to each other and the development of a strong team culture, describing them as a family built on brotherhood, discipline, and focus. He concluded by highlighting the talent within the team, noting that four players have achieved national rankings: Luis Velasco, Xavier Peregrina, Jace Rodriguez, and Jerry Esquivel.
