The City of Milton Parks and Recreation Advisory Board (PRAB) meeting on December 20, 2024, showcased an exciting lineup of community events and initiatives aimed at enhancing local engagement and inclusivity.

One of the standout announcements was the extension of the nomination window for the Wall of Fame 2025, now open until June 8. This decision allows more community members to participate in honoring local figures, with the induction ceremony scheduled for October. Thomas Rhodes, who presented the update, emphasized the importance of community involvement in this annual tradition.

In a vibrant discussion led by community outreach coordinator Kayla, several upcoming events were highlighted, including the much-anticipated Splash and Bash on May 24, featuring water slides and live music. The Memorial Day ceremony on May 26 was also promoted, inviting residents to honor veterans at The Green.

A notable new initiative is the "Red, White, and You" celebration on July 4, rebranding the previous Independence Day event. This year’s festivities will include a foam pit party, promising a fun-filled day for families.

Additionally, the board is launching a Milton Restaurant Week in September, aimed at boosting local dining businesses with special menus. Another exciting event is the Last Splash Puppy Bash, where dogs can enjoy a pool party, scheduled for September 13, alongside a plant swap to engage local gardeners.

The meeting also addressed inclusivity efforts, with plans for special needs story time at the library and sensory-friendly hours at popular events. A new high school senior service recognition program is in the works to honor students who have dedicated significant volunteer hours.

These initiatives reflect the board's commitment to fostering community spirit and inclusivity, ensuring that Milton remains a vibrant place for all residents.
