Richfield Council proclaims May as Jewish American Heritage Month and Police Memorial Week

Richfield City Council took significant steps to honor community heritage and law enforcement during its recent meeting on May 13, 2025. The council approved a proclamation recognizing May as Jewish American Heritage Month, celebrating the contributions of Jewish Americans to the community and the nation. This year marks the 45th annual celebration, which began with Jewish American Heritage Week in 1980 and was expanded to a full month in 2006. In addition to the heritage proclamation, the council also declared May 11-17, 2025, as National Police Week, with May 15 designated as Peace Officers Memorial Day. The proclamation coincides with the addition of 345 new names to the national monument, commemorating officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
