Buena High School prepares for graduation with traffic updates and community celebrations

Sheriff Mark Danels opened the discussion with a reminder about the legality of drinking alcohol in public spaces, emphasizing that it is prohibited in Arizona unless in designated areas. He recounted an incident involving an individual drinking at a bus stop, which raised safety concerns due to the person's aggressive behavior and outstanding warrants. Scheduled for May 22, the event will see approximately 420 graduates and is expected to create significant traffic disruptions in the area. To mitigate congestion, the school will implement road closures and offer a free shuttle service from a nearby mall to the graduation venue. Weller highlighted the community's support for the event, including the long-standing tradition of "Project Graduation," which provides a safe celebration for students after the ceremony.

Additionally, Captain Heather from the Salvation Army shared insights about their ongoing community support initiatives, including free lunches and emergency food distributions. She encouraged residents to take advantage of these services, which are available to anyone in need.
