City Commission approves Cielo Vista master plan revision and new residential projects

The Planning and Zoning Commission of Laredo convened on May 15, 2025, to discuss several key developments, including the approval of master plans and preliminary plats aimed at enhancing residential and industrial areas in the city.

One of the primary topics was the revision of the Cielo Vista master plan, which proposes a mix of residential, multifamily, and commercial developments across 1,276 lots. The commission reviewed the plan's intent to reconfigure street alignments and lot placements. After a brief discussion, the commission unanimously approved the master plan, subject to staff recommendations.

In addition to the master plan, the commission considered a new preliminary plat for Cielo Vista Phase 2, also designated for residential use. The engineering team confirmed their agreement with staff comments, leading to another unanimous approval from the commission.

The meeting also included a preliminary consideration for a new industrial development by United States Cold Storage LP. The proposed site, which is zoned for industrial use, received approval after the engineering team addressed any questions from the commission.

Lastly, the commission discussed a request for a six-month extension on the preliminary plat approval for a residential development involving Lots 15 A and 15 B in the Eastern Division. The extension would push the expiration date from June 15, 2025, to December 15, 2025. The commission is expected to finalize this decision in the coming meetings.
