Daytona Beach International Airport expands services with new carriers and non-stop routes

The recent Volusia County Economic Development "Q" Breakfast highlighted significant developments in the aviation sector, particularly at Daytona Beach International Airport (DAB). As the airport navigates economic uncertainties affecting the airline industry, officials expressed optimism about its growth and the potential for new airline partnerships.

During the meeting, airport representatives discussed the challenges airlines face, including rising operational costs and fluctuating demand. Despite these hurdles, DAB has seen a steady increase in passenger traffic, with notable growth of 4% in January, 7% in February, and 7.5% in March. The airport's ability to maintain efficient security checkpoint wait times, even during peak travel periods, was also praised, showcasing its commitment to customer experience.

A key point of discussion was the airport's strategic advantages, including its 10,500-foot runway, which allows for extensive service offerings. This feature positions DAB as a competitive player among Florida airports, attracting airlines looking to expand their routes. Currently, DAB operates with nine nonstop destinations, including new services from Breeze Airways to cities like White Plains, New York, and Akron, Ohio, set to launch in September.
