Carroll County Honors Educators at Georgia Music Educators Association's Opening Session

The Carroll County School System held its annual Board Meeting and Retirement Ceremony on May 15, 2025, in Georgia, celebrating the contributions of retiring educators and showcasing the talents of the Elevate Chorus. The meeting commenced with a performance by the Elevate Chorus, which was formed specifically for the Georgia Music Educators Association. The chorus includes two student representatives from each of the county's 12 elementary schools, six middle schools, and five high schools, embodying the theme of honoring the past, celebrating the present, and creating the future.

During the ceremony, the board recognized a group of distinguished retirees who collectively represented an impressive 1,753 years of service to students. Each retiree was acknowledged for their unique contributions and the positive impact they had on countless individuals throughout their careers. The Elevate Chorus performed to honor these educators, emphasizing their role in inspiring and encouraging students.

Among the speakers was Marcela Correa, a music teacher with 32 years of experience in the Carroll County school system. She reflected on the influence of her father and the musical education she received, expressing gratitude for the support she received from colleagues and the community. Correa highlighted the importance of music education in shaping lives and fostering a love for the arts.

Seth Pauls, a music teacher at Glanton Hindsman Elementary School, also shared his experiences and the impact of his mentor, Dr. Stephen Tyndall. He emphasized the lasting influence educators have on their students, encouraging his peers to recognize the significance of their roles in shaping future generations.

The ceremony concluded with a call for all attendees to join in singing the final chorus of "Lift 1 Small Voice," reinforcing the theme of unity and the collective power of music. The event served not only as a farewell to retiring educators but also as a celebration of the enduring legacy they leave behind in the Carroll County School System.
