LA Fleet Week kicks off with ship tours and Memorial Day concert at Brand Park

The Los Angeles City Council meeting on May 16, 2025, highlighted several upcoming community events, including the highly anticipated LA Fleet Week and a special concert for Memorial Day.

LA Fleet Week, Southern California's largest Memorial Day event, will take place at the Port of Los Angeles from May 23 through May 26. This year marks the 250th anniversary of the Army, Marine Corps, Merchant Marines, and Navy. The event will feature active duty ship tours, live entertainment, aircraft flyovers, military displays, and competitions such as the Galley Wars culinary cook-off. Families are encouraged to attend this free celebration at the waterfront.

Additionally, the Los Angeles Public Library will host a performance by the Filipino American indie pop rock band Zazamo on May 24 at the Pio Pico branch. This event is part of the Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month celebrations and will showcase the band’s unique musical style, including performances in Tagalog.

Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez announced a Memorial Day concert in the park on May 25 at Brand Park in Mission Hills. The concert will feature the First Marine Division Band, along with other live entertainment and a veterans resource fair.
