Roosevelt High celebrates 100th graduation with scholarships and athletic achievements

On May 17, 2025, Roosevelt High School in St. Louis celebrated a significant milestone as it honored its 100th graduating class during a heartfelt ceremony. The event was marked by emotional speeches, recognition of achievements, and the presentation of scholarships, highlighting the school's rich history and commitment to student success.

The ceremony began with a message from the senior sponsor, who encouraged graduates to seek guidance from staff as they embark on their next journeys, whether that be in college, the workforce, or the military. The sponsor emphasized the importance of resilience, reminding students that "can't is never in your vocabulary," and expressed deep affection for the graduating class.

Ben Corrigan, the athletic director, took the stage to celebrate the school's athletic legacy. He proudly recounted Roosevelt's impressive record, including 133 city championships across various sports, and highlighted the achievements of individual teams, such as the boys swimming team, which holds the record for the most city titles. Corrigan also announced the Post Dispatch Scholar Athlete award, which was presented to senior Samaya Glover, and the Roosevelt Alumni Scholarship, awarded to Wally Ibrahimi, providing $1,000 annually for four years of college.

The ceremony concluded with a call for continued support and celebration of the graduates' accomplishments.
