The Comal Independent School District (CISD) Board of Trustees meeting held on May 15, 2025, commenced with a celebratory recognition of outstanding students. The meeting, led by President Stanford, welcomed students and their families to honor their achievements.
The evening began with a special acknowledgment of the district's National Merit finalists and scholars. Currently, Comal ISD boasts two National Merit scholars and one finalist for the year. The distinction of finalist is awarded to students who are in the running for National Merit Scholarships, with only a fraction of finalists ultimately becoming scholars.
Logan Walker from Piper High School was recognized as the 2025 National Merit finalist. He plans to attend Trinity University in the fall. The two scholars honored were Mark Moore from Canyon High School, who has received a scholarship offer from the University of Texas at Dallas, and Gabriel Gilbert Devereaux from Piper High School, who has been offered a scholarship from Texas A&M University and intends to enroll there this fall.
Following the announcements, parents were invited to join their children for photographs, marking a moment of pride for both students and their families. This recognition highlights the academic achievements within the district and sets a positive tone for the remainder of the meeting.
