Davenport and Smithson Valley girls soccer teams honored for impressive seasons

The Comal Independent School District Board of Trustees meeting on May 15, 2025, celebrated the achievements of local high school athletes, highlighting their impressive performances in soccer and track events.

The meeting began with a tribute to the Davenport High School girls soccer team, which had a remarkable season, finishing as the runner-up in the state 4A title. Team representatives included players Brooke Bauder, Peyton Sparks, Abby Simon, Isabel Templeman, Mackenzie Torres, and Cara Kirkpatrick, along with head coach Tristan Richards and assistant coach Lauren Strand.

Following this, the Smithson Valley girls soccer team was recognized for their outstanding performance, going undefeated in district play with an overall record of 19 wins, 5 losses, and 3 draws. They advanced to the state 5A semifinals. Team captains Addison Briscoe, Morgan Heintz, Caitlin North, and Alyssa Pipes represented the team, with head coach Jason Adkins present to celebrate their success.

The meeting also acknowledged the achievements of track athletes. Cassidy Henderson from Canyon High School was honored for qualifying for the state 6A pole vault competition, where she finished sixth and maintained a top 10 ranking throughout the season. Peter Pardo serves as the head coach for cross country and track at Canyon High School.

Additionally, the Canyon Lake High School girls track team was recognized for qualifying for the state 4A competition in both the 4x100 and 4x200 relays, along with several individual qualifiers.

This meeting underscored the district's commitment to celebrating student-athlete accomplishments and fostering a supportive environment for sports within the community.
