A heartfelt tribute to dedicated educators highlighted the Ontario School District 8C's recent School Board Work Session on May 20th. Principal Lisa Longoria honored two retiring teachers, Sherry Geem and Kemi, who have collectively devoted nearly five decades to Ontario Middle School.
Sherry Geem, who began her teaching career 27 years ago, spent the first seven years in the district before dedicating the last 20 years to Ontario Middle School. Her colleague Kemi has also taught at the school for the same duration, creating a strong bond as they worked side by side in the language arts department.
Longoria emphasized the profound impact these educators have had on their students and the school community, stating, "That is infectious, and it affects everyone in the building." The recognition of Geem and Kemi not only celebrates their individual contributions but also highlights the importance of fostering a supportive and inspiring educational environment.
As the district prepares for the upcoming school year, the legacy of these retiring teachers serves as a reminder of the vital role educators play in shaping the lives of students and the community at large.
