Ohatchee community honors local family after tragic incident

A tragic loss in the Ohatchee community was a poignant topic at the Calhoun County Board Meeting on April 17, 2025. Members expressed deep sorrow over the passing of a beloved local figure, a mother of a young daughter, who had made significant contributions to the community, including coaching youth sports.

During the meeting, one member reflected on the impact she had on many lives, stating, "She was an instrumental part... made an impact on a lot of kids' lives." The heartfelt discussion highlighted the community's grief and the importance of supporting the family during this difficult time. A prayer was offered for the family, emphasizing the collective sorrow felt by the community.

In addition to this emotional moment, the meeting proceeded with standard agenda items, including a roll call and the approval of the agenda. The board welcomed Miss Beam to discuss the state audit, followed by recognitions led by Mr. Willis, who acknowledged Barry Russell as the TCI Student of the Month and celebrated mini grant winners from the Calhoun County Education Association.
