Richfield Library Board approves employee background check policy for all staff and volunteers

The Richfield Library Board convened on December 13, 2024, to discuss several important topics, primarily focusing on the implementation of a new employee background check policy. The board reviewed existing guidelines and debated the necessity of background checks for volunteers, particularly those interacting with children.

During the meeting, board members expressed concerns about the potential burden of requiring background checks for all volunteers, especially those involved in less sensitive roles, such as assisting with book sales.
