Retired Colonel Jeff Noble announces Dublin's Memorial Day celebration plans

Retired Lieutenant Colonel Jeff Noble, representing American Legion Post 800, presented plans for the upcoming Memorial Day celebration, inviting all residents to participate in the festivities on Monday, May 26, at 11:00 AM. The event will feature a parade starting from the Wendy's restaurant, followed by a ceremony at the bridge and concluding at the cemetery. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the passing of Lance Corporal Wesley G. Davids, whose mother, Jody Davids, will be attending the ceremony. The event will also showcase the "Eyes of Freedom" exhibit at the North Market in Bridge Park, along with an outdoor version in Bridal Park. Following the ceremony, the city will host a picnic lunch for the community, fostering a spirit of togetherness and gratitude for veterans.

In addition to the Memorial Day plans, the council received an update on the local hospitality industry from Scott Dring. He reported a promising first quarter, with bed tax revenues up nearly 8.5% and increased occupancy rates. This growth stands in contrast to national trends, attributed largely to a rise in weekend travel, indicating a robust local economy.

The meeting underscored the city's commitment to honoring its veterans while also celebrating the positive developments within the community.
