Dublin City Council approves annexation of 79 acres from Madison County

Dublin City Council made significant strides in its latest meeting by advancing the annexation of 79 acres of land currently in Madison County. This move, known as the Madison County annexation, is a crucial step in expanding the city’s boundaries and enhancing local services.

During the meeting, legal counsel Phil Hartman presented Resolution 34-25, which outlines the services the city will provide to the newly annexed area. This property, part of the Shepherd acquisition and other previous acquisitions, is not yet part of Dublin but is set to be integrated into the city. The resolution is a necessary precursor to the upcoming hearing on the annexation, scheduled for June 17 before the Madison County Commissioners.

The council unanimously approved the resolution, with all members expressing their support. Mayor Ambrose Grooms and Vice Mayor Alito were among those who voted in favor, signaling a strong consensus on the importance of this annexation for the city’s growth.
