During the recent Tipp City Council meeting held on May 19, 2025, a significant highlight was the presentation of the Richard H. Gorsuch Scholarship by Harry Phillips from American Municipal Power (AMP). This annual scholarship honors the legacy of Richard H. Gorsuch, a former president of AMP Ohio, and is awarded to students whose parents are employees of municipal electric systems or elected officials responsible for such systems.
This year, Sienna Montgomery, a graduating senior from Newton High School, was recognized as one of the five recipients of the scholarship. Sienna, the daughter of Peter Montgomery, a foreman for the Tipp City Electric Department, plans to pursue a nursing degree at Wright State University. Her achievements include being an active member of the National Honor Society, serving as captain of the varsity volleyball team, and participating in student council, alongside various community service activities.
