Burke County reopens Linville Falls overlooks and announces Revolutionary War Week plans

The Linville Falls overlooks, a major attraction drawing over a million visitors annually, have reopened following repairs. While the visitor center remains closed due to damage, residents and tourists can once again enjoy the scenic views and hiking opportunities. In addition to the reopening, the county announced the successful receipt of two grants from the North Carolina Department of Cultural Resources. The meeting also recognized the efforts of local volunteers in the recent Spring Litter Sweep, where 55 participants collected 445 bags of trash and 21 bags of recyclables. Awards were presented to various teams, including the Burke River Trail Litter Getters, who led the initiative with 39 bags of trash collected.

Additionally, the Longview Lions Club was honored for its 75 years of service in the community, emphasizing their commitment to vision screenings and humanitarian efforts. The club's contributions were acknowledged through a proclamation celebrating their impact in Burke County.
