Wheeling commission hears underage alcohol sale cases against Chicago Ramen and KD Market

The Village of Wheeling Board Meeting on May 19, 2025, addressed significant violations concerning the sale of alcohol to underage individuals, resulting in immediate repercussions for several local businesses.

During the meeting, representatives from Chicago Ramen Wheeling, RMPT Beverages LLC, and Christina's Deli Inc. acknowledged their liability for serving alcohol to minors on March 26, 2025. Chicago Ramen confirmed it would cease liquor sales and did not apply for a liquor license for 2025, following the incident. The establishment's employee, who served the alcohol, was suspended for a week and received additional training to prevent future violations.

RMPT Beverages also admitted liability and stated that the employee involved had undergone Bassett training, a certification required for alcohol servers. In response to the violation, the store hired a manager to oversee compliance and ensure proper training for staff.

Christina's Deli similarly accepted responsibility, with the front-end manager explaining that their system alerts employees to age discrepancies during ID checks. The employee involved was warned and took full responsibility for the error.

The board will deliberate on the appropriate actions for each business in light of these violations, emphasizing the importance of strict adherence to alcohol sale regulations to protect community welfare.
