Chief Kuver highlights EMS Week 2025 initiatives for Marion County first responders

During the recent Marion County Board of County Commissioners meeting, the spotlight was on Emergency Medical Services (EMS) as officials celebrated EMS Week 2025. Chief Kuver of EMS highlighted the critical role that local providers play in ensuring community health and safety. He expressed gratitude for the support from both the community and the Board, emphasizing that the efforts of hundreds of EMS providers are vital in caring for residents and visitors alike.

A key focus of the discussion was the community paramedic program, which aims to reduce emergency room visits by assisting high-frequency users of EMS. This program targets individuals who call 911 multiple times a month, providing them with necessary resources to manage their health at home. Since its inception in February 2021, the program has successfully engaged over 500 individuals, leading to a remarkable reduction in 911 calls by approximately 63%. This initiative not only alleviates pressure on emergency services but also enhances the overall well-being of participants.

The meeting also acknowledged the dedication of over 800 first responders who work tirelessly around the clock. Chief Kuver thanked the commissioners for their ongoing support and funding, which he noted is essential for maintaining high-quality EMS services in the county.
