Calvin and Natalie Davis to lead San Joaquin's community resource center initiative

Santaquin City Council is making strides in community development with the establishment of a new Community Resource Center, set to be located in the LDS church building on Main Street, affectionately known as the "Pizza Hut Church" by locals. During the council's regular meeting on May 20, 2025, it was announced that Calvin and Natalie Davis will serve as the directors of this initiative. They are tasked with laying the groundwork for the center and recruiting additional directors to enhance community services. Residents can expect to see programs and activities launching later this year.

In addition to the resource center, the council discussed current water management in the area. Officials reported that snow levels are low at higher elevations, but runoff remains steady at approximately 30 cubic feet per second. The flood committee and irrigation company are effectively managing the situation, ensuring no immediate risk of flooding or property damage.

Furthermore, the council noted that Centricom has begun microtrenching work on the East Bench to install fiber optic infrastructure, a project aimed at improving internet services in the area. This development is part of ongoing efforts to enhance connectivity for Santaquin residents.
