Community Engagement Shapes Morris Park and Parkchester Playground Designs

Bronx residents are set to see significant improvements in their community's infrastructure as the Housing, Land Use, and Sanitation & Environmental Protection Committees convened on May 20, 2025, to discuss ongoing projects aimed at enhancing public spaces and managing stormwater effectively.

A key focus of the meeting was the progress of a stormwater management project that began its design phase in 2023. The project aims to install subsurface storage systems in local parks, specifically at Caserta and Castle Hill Playgrounds, to better handle stormwater runoff. The design process has been collaborative, with community outreach events held in Morris Park and Parkchester to gather feedback from residents. The project team has already submitted a 60% design plan and is on track to reach 90% completion by July 2025, with final designs expected by fall 2025.
