The Delaware Parks and Recreation meeting held on May 20, 2025, focused on updates regarding community center developments and upcoming programs. Amy Mosser, the associate executive, provided insights into the current status of the community center, highlighting growth in membership and facility improvements.
Mosser reported that the community center currently serves 3,600 members, a significant increase from 2,198 members before the COVID-19 pandemic. This growth is attributed to new residential subdivisions in the city of Delaware. Recent facility upgrades include the installation of a new cement pad in front of the garbage bin and plans for a sauna rebuild scheduled for June.

The meeting also highlighted the center's fundraising efforts, with a goal of raising $70,000 during the "Day of Giving" to support scholarships and free programming for Delaware County residents. Among the various programs offered, the team leaders program was noted as particularly popular.
Looking ahead, the community center is now registering participants for summer programs, including swim lessons, basketball, volleyball, and martial arts. The week-long day camps are currently running, averaging 50 to 60 participants each week, with 20 new customers in training. A youth triathlon is also scheduled for October, and volunteers are encouraged to participate.
The meeting concluded with a brief public comment session, where a student attended to take notes for a school assignment. Overall, the meeting underscored the community center's commitment to enhancing recreational opportunities and engaging the community through various programs and initiatives.
