Hoover School Board celebrates student achievements and recognizes outstanding educators

The Hoover City Schools Board convened on May 21, 2025, for a meeting that highlighted student achievements, recognized outstanding faculty, and addressed key administrative updates. In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, the board honored the district's mental health counseling team, led by Catherine Stewart. The team has provided over 8,000 services this year, addressing the growing mental health challenges faced by students. Stewart underscored the critical role of early intervention in supporting students' emotional and social well-being.

The meeting also introduced the Brian Phillips Agents of Change Award, celebrating innovative leadership in educational technology. Brian Phillips, the former chief technology officer, presented the award to two deserving educators, acknowledging their commitment to enhancing educational practices within the district.

New administrative appointments were announced, including Andrea Fordham as principal of Bumpus Middle School and Carrie Tipps as assistant principal of Deer Valley Elementary School. Both expressed excitement about their new roles and the opportunity to contribute to the district's educational mission.
