Brighton City Council approves comprehensive affordable housing amendments and fee reductions

Brighton City Council took significant steps towards enhancing affordable housing during its recent meeting on May 20, 2025. The council approved an ordinance that amends the municipal code definition of affordable housing and adopted a revised fee reduction table aimed at making housing more accessible for residents.

The discussions highlighted the importance of aligning local policies with the Colorado Housing and Finance Authority's (CHFA) income limits for Adams County. The council determined that a minimum affordability duration of 30 years would be established, and various affordability mechanisms would be accepted to meet the community's housing needs.
