Mark Anderson outlines cybersecurity strategy and server needs for Lewiston City Council

Anderson noted that this transition is nearly complete and is crucial for protecting against the increasing number of cyber threats that affect organizations of all sizes, including small municipalities like Lewiston. He pointed out that 90% of cyber attacks are due to human error, such as clicking on phishing emails, underscoring the need for user training and practical cybersecurity measures.

Anderson also addressed the city's outdated server infrastructure, recommending a budget of approximately $10,000 for a new server to ensure efficient data management and security. He highlighted the potential benefits of modern technology over older systems, which are prone to failure and inefficiency. The council acknowledged the need for this investment, indicating it would be included in the next year's budget.

Price noted that the current plan is over a decade old and primarily focused on accessible housing, which may not fully address the city's evolving needs. He explained that BRAG has funding available to assist with planning efforts, emphasizing the importance of having a comprehensive master plan that includes elements such as land use, transportation, and affordable housing.
