Desert Mountain High School celebrates graduation of class of 2025 with heartfelt speeches

The Desert Mountain High School graduation ceremony for the Class of 2025 took place on May 23, 2025, celebrating the achievements of students, faculty, and the community. Principal John Andrews opened the event by welcoming graduates, parents, faculty, and guests, urging everyone to silence their mobile devices to honor the occasion. The ceremony began with a performance of the national anthem by the DM choir, followed by a moment of silence to remember those who could not attend.

Andrews recognized the hard work of the faculty and staff, inviting them to stand and receive applause from the audience. He also acknowledged district administration members, including Assistant Superintendent Dr. Heather Cruz and Board Member Mrs. Amy Carney, as well as administrators from feeder schools, thanking them for their support.

The student body president, Haley Glicksman, took the stage as the master of ceremonies. In a heartfelt and humorous speech, she encouraged her peers to embrace life's imperfections and to live boldly, sharing her own experience of tripping on stage as a metaphor for the importance of authenticity over perfection. Glicksman urged her classmates to celebrate their graduation with enthusiasm, inviting everyone to cheer loudly for the Class of 2025.

Following Glicksman, the senior dedicatee, Mr. Charles Becker, addressed the audience. He expressed gratitude for being chosen to speak and reflected on the joy of teaching and watching students grow. Becker emphasized the bittersweet nature of graduation, celebrating the students' next chapter while acknowledging the unique contributions they brought to the school community. He encouraged graduates to appreciate the connections they have with their supporters and to recognize the significance of their achievements.
