City updates on $77M Prairie Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant expansion and other projects

Under the bright lights of the Lewisville City Hall, city officials gathered to discuss significant infrastructure projects that promise to shape the future of the community. Among the key topics was an update on several major projects aimed at enhancing the city’s wastewater management capabilities.

The Prairie Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant is at the forefront of these initiatives. Currently 90% complete, the project is set to expand the plant's capacity to accommodate future growth. With a budget of $77 million, it includes the construction of a new aeration basin distribution structure, a splitter box, and a blower building. Officials anticipate receiving the final bid-ready documents in June, with construction expected to begin in August 2025, lasting approximately two and a half years.

Another significant project discussed was the combined pump station project, which is currently in the design phase. With a budget of $38 million, the project is at 30% design completion. The engineering team is diligently working on the preliminary engineering drawing report, aiming for a similar timeline of two and a half years for both design and construction.

Additionally, the Midway Ranch Lift Station project was highlighted. This project, which has been separated from the combined pump station initiative, is already under construction. The lift station, designed to handle 13.8 million gallons per day, is complemented by a 30-inch force main that is currently 90% designed. Officials expect to finalize the bid-ready documents in June, with construction anticipated to commence in late summer or early winter, all within a budget of $41 million.

As these projects progress, they reflect the city’s commitment to improving infrastructure and preparing for future growth, ensuring that Lewisville remains a vibrant and sustainable community for its residents.
