The latest episode of Plano City News, hosted by Media Relations Director Steve Stoler, highlighted several important community updates during the meeting on May 23, 2025.
A significant announcement was made regarding the closure of Spring Creek Parkway from Park Boulevard to Parker Road. This road will be closed in both directions throughout June to allow a contractor to repair concrete panels. The closure, starting on June 2 and expected to be completed by July 1, aims to enhance safety as this section of the road is only two lanes wide. The timing of the construction is intended to minimize disruption to the nearby PISD Holyfield Science Learning Center and to ensure that all lanes are open in time for the Fourth of July festival.

This approach reduces mowing in select locations to promote the growth of native plants, which will improve habitats for pollinators and conserve resources. The meeting also announced a reception to honor four outgoing City Council members—Anthony Riccadelli, Casey Prince, Rick Smith, and Shelby Williams. The event will take place on Thursday, May 29, from 5:30 PM to 7 PM in the Florence Shapiro Council Chambers, with remarks beginning at 5:45 PM.
Furthermore, registration is now open for the Plano ISD and City of Plano Back to School Fair. Scheduled for Wednesday, July 30, from 4 PM to 7 PM at the Plano Event Center, the fair will provide essential services to families in need, including vision and dental screenings, haircuts, community resources, low-cost immunizations, and food supplies. Students with tickets will also receive a backpack.
The episode concluded with a feature on a pet available for adoption, a tan snake named Draco, who was brought to the shelter after his owner faced eviction.
