Town tackles severe water challenges and plans sewer replacement this summer

The Town of Carbondale Environmental Board convened on May 20, 2025, to discuss pressing environmental issues, including water supply challenges and infrastructure projects. The South Meadow Creek flow rate is currently at half of last year's levels, raising alarms about water availability. Additionally, the Roaring Fork Well field is down one well due to age-related failure, with efforts underway to secure a driller for repairs. These issues underscore the ongoing challenges the town faces in managing its water resources effectively.

On a more positive note, the board announced that the hydro project is set to start in June, marking a hopeful development in the town's renewable energy initiatives.
