Port Angeles Fire Department expands Operation Shielding Hope to reduce opioid overdoses

The Port Angeles City Council meeting on May 20, 2025, highlighted significant progress in addressing the opioid crisis through the Operation Shielding Hope initiative. This success is attributed to the proactive approach of community paramedics who, upon responding to overdose calls, have been able to connect over 70% of survivors to substance use disorder services.
