LA County Public Works discusses Tunicana Road reopening and concerns over beach access

Concerns were raised about the safety of recent roadwork, particularly regarding the installation of K-rails that appeared to be overflowing with dirt. Community members expressed dissatisfaction with the perceived lack of safety measures and the overall quality of the work done by Caltrans.

Another significant point of discussion was the status of local beaches. While it was clarified that the beaches are open, there is no clear plan for managing access or addressing parking issues, which has left residents frustrated. Council members urged for better communication and promotional efforts to inform the public about beach access and local business support.

Waste management issues were also addressed, particularly illegal dumping along Old Canyon Avenue. Residents expressed concerns about debris accumulation and potential fire hazards. Public works representatives assured attendees that they are coordinating with environmental programs to tackle these issues and improve community messaging.

The meeting concluded with a call for enhanced public relations efforts to ensure residents are informed about road conditions and community resources. The council aims to foster better communication between departments to support local businesses and enhance community engagement.
