American Fork High School celebrates Class of 2025 at commencement ceremony

The American Fork High School graduation ceremony took place on May 24, 2025, celebrating the achievements of the graduating class. The event began with the recognition of outstanding staff members, including the Employee of the Year, registrar Lisa Blacker, and Teacher of the Year, Sean Johnson, who teaches multiple subjects including math and health.

The principal addressed the graduates, encouraging them to reflect on their growth since their sophomore year. He emphasized the importance of teamwork and lifting others, quoting NBA champion Bill Russell, who stated that the measure of success is how much better one makes their teammates. The principal acknowledged the challenges the students faced during their high school years, including personal losses and disappointments, while also highlighting their accomplishments and resilience.

Board member Sarah Beeson certified that all graduates had met the requirements set by the Alpine School District, expressing pride in the unique spirit of American Fork High School. She encouraged the graduates to carry the values of kindness and charity into their future endeavors.

The ceremony included the formal recognition of graduates, with a lengthy list of names read aloud, marking their transition from high school students to graduates. The event concluded with the graduates moving their tassels from the right to the left side of their caps, symbolizing their new status as high school graduates. A senior video was presented, followed by a performance of the school song, reinforcing the sense of community and tradition at American Fork High School.
