Saratoga Springs hires Colton Pert as new cemetery sexton ahead of Memorial Day

During the meeting, Rick, the park superintendent, introduced Colton Pert as the new cemetery sexton. Pert brings 13 years of experience from Orem City and officially started his role just before Memorial Day. The council expressed enthusiasm about his arrival, highlighting the importance of his position as the city prepares for upcoming discussions on cemetery policies.

The council also discussed a significant project known as the West County Interagency Growth Plan, which involves collaboration among Saratoga Springs, Eagle Mountain, Fairfield, and Cedar Fort, along with UTA and UDOT. Kevin Croshaw, a project manager, provided an update on the project's status, emphasizing the need for alignment among the cities as they grow. The plan aims to identify development trends and address any misalignments in goals and processes.

Councilman Macomber clarified that the funding gaps discussed in relation to active transportation projects do not imply that the city would raise taxes. Instead, he noted that developers are typically responsible for funding trails within their developments, which helps mitigate costs for the city.
