Lehi Mural Festival set for June 7 with local and international artists

The Midvale City Council meeting on May 20, 2025, highlighted the upcoming fourth annual Mural Festival, set for June 7 from 4 PM to 9 PM. City manager Matt Dahl emphasized the festival's significance, urging community participation to celebrate local and international artistry. This year, seven artists will create murals live, with some starting as early as this week due to scheduling conflicts.

The festival will feature food trucks, a beer garden operated by a local brewery, and interactive activities, including sidewalk chalk art by the arts council. Main Street will be closed for the event, allowing local businesses to engage with attendees through vendor booths and activities. Dahl noted that the festival aims to enhance awareness of Main Street and its businesses, with many participating for the first time.

A highlight of the festival will be an arts walk led by the mayor on June 5 at 6 PM, where community members can meet the artists and discuss the murals. Attendees will enjoy free ice cream at the end of the walk, making it a family-friendly event.

In addition to the festival, the council discussed changes to facility rental policies to prevent "ghosting"—when applicants reserve dates but fail to follow through. The proposed policy would require a fee upon application submission, with a partial refund available if the event cannot proceed during the review phase. However, if cancellations occur closer to the event date, applicants would be given a year to reschedule instead of receiving a refund.

The Mural Festival promises to be a vibrant celebration of art and community, with city officials eager to see a large turnout.
