City of Laredo implements optimized traffic signal timings on FM 1472 corridor

The Metropolitan Planning Organization Policy Committee Meeting held on May 21, 2025, in Laredo, Texas, spotlighted significant advancements in local traffic management and safety initiatives. A key highlight was the ongoing rehabilitation project on State Highway 255, which is currently 11% complete. This project aims to enhance future passing lanes and will involve resurfacing with new hot mix asphalt.

The committee announced a new $2.3 million contract awarded to Levy Company, set to begin in October 2025 and conclude in the summer of 2026. This project will improve roadway illumination from Manganagan to Cielito Lindo and establish a signalized intersection at Riverbank and the IH 69 Frontage Road, marking a crucial step in enhancing traffic safety.
