Wilson County launches free transit service fueled by Economic Development Corporation support

Floresville is set to enhance its local economy with the introduction of a new transit service, which will operate at no cost to riders. This initiative, supported by the Economic Development Corporation, aims to encourage residents and visitors to shop at local businesses, including major retailers like Walmart and HEB. City officials expressed pride in this development, highlighting its potential to boost economic activity within the community.

During the recent city council meeting held on December 12, 2024, the council also considered a resolution to allocate $7,500 from the hotel occupancy tax for the YCB Fall Classic Steer Show, scheduled for October 19, 2024. This funding is intended to promote tourism and support the local convention and hotel industry, in line with Texas tax code provisions.

City Manager and council members emphasized the importance of these initiatives in fostering community growth and enhancing the quality of life for residents. As these projects move forward, they are expected to create new opportunities for local businesses and attract more visitors to Floresville.
