These include runway rehabilitation, lighting enhancements, and terminal expansion efforts. Transportation Director Rich Krogl highlighted that the funding for these projects is primarily sourced from federal grants, with local contributions kept to a minimum. The council expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming bid opening for the terminal expansion, which is expected to attract competitive offers from local contractors.
Furthermore, the council tentatively awarded a bid of $2,418,344.23 to Domi Construction for the airport terminal access road and parking lot project, contingent upon receiving FAA grant offers. This project is also largely funded through federal and state grants, reflecting the city’s commitment to improving its airport facilities.
These decisions underscore the council's focus on enhancing public infrastructure, which is expected to benefit residents and travelers alike. As these projects move forward, the city aims to minimize disruptions while maximizing the long-term benefits of improved traffic flow and airport accessibility.
