Lincoln High School awards multiple scholarships in honor of dedicated educators and alumni

The Wisconsin Rapids Public Schools held a significant meeting on April 28, 2025, to present the Lincoln High School Scholarship Awards, honoring students and memorializing educators and community members who have made lasting impacts.

The event recognized several scholarships dedicated to retired French teachers, including Madame Marybeth Peterson, Madame Carolyn Greenlee, and Dr. Marcia Parker. Their dedication to teaching the French language inspired students like Tia Tao and Hannah Worth, who were awarded the LHS French Club Scholarship and also received the 2025 American Association of Teachers of French Outstanding Senior in French Awards.

The Georgia Fenner Memorial Scholarship was presented to Joshua Glenser Cenczyk, honoring Fenner's legacy as a dedicated school receptionist who passed away from ovarian cancer in 1997. The Jesse T. Tillery and Matthew T. Grimm Memorial Scholarship, established to honor two Lincoln High School graduates who died in Iraq, was awarded to Simon Wolf, recognizing their sacrifice and the community's commitment to remembering them.

Joshua Glenser Cenczyk also received the Luke Wyland Memorial Scholarship, which honors a former student known for his talent in computer programming. The Andrew Neitzel Freak Flag Scholarship, created in memory of a young man who loved music and poetry, was awarded to Taylor Engelbreit, emphasizing the importance of kindness and support among peers.

Additionally, the Sherry Gertler Memorial Nursing Scholarship was awarded to Mina Rodriguez, celebrating Gertler's dedication to nursing and her impact on students during her career.

The meeting also highlighted the Lincoln High School Boys and Girls Soccer Booster Club Scholarships. Lucas Edgar and Landon Freeman received the boys' scholarships, while Jordan Coder, Sophie Fite, Abby Gust, Allison Jones, and Aliyah Leach were recognized for their contributions to the girls' soccer program.

This event not only celebrated the achievements of students but also honored the memories of those who have shaped the educational landscape in Wisconsin Rapids, reinforcing the community's commitment to supporting its youth.
