Hawthorne High School is set to launch a new summer weight room program aimed at enhancing athletic performance for its students. The program will run from June 23 until the week before blackout week, offering four workout slots each day from Monday to Thursday. Athletes can sign up for one slot per day, with registration facilitated through weekly emails sent out every Sunday. This structured approach is designed to ensure that students receive focused training rather than an open gym experience.
In addition to the summer program, the meeting highlighted the importance of the school's athletic trainer, Miss W, who is available to assist students with injuries sustained during practices or games. Parents are encouraged to consult her before seeking external medical appointments, as she can provide immediate care and guidance.

These students can now use their athletic participation as a substitute for physical education credits. This initiative aims to support overachieving students by allowing them to manage their busy schedules more effectively. Participants will document their athletic activities through a Google Classroom platform and submit an essay reflecting on their experiences at the end of the marking period.
These initiatives reflect Hawthorne High School's commitment to supporting its student-athletes by providing them with valuable resources and opportunities to balance their academic and athletic commitments. As the summer program approaches, students and parents are encouraged to take advantage of these offerings to enhance their athletic experience and academic success.
