Prosper ISD board considers $22M maximum price for multipurpose complex construction

The Prosper Independent School District (ISD) School Board meeting on May 19, 2025, focused on the approval of the Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) for a new multipurpose complex. This complex will include three key projects: a site package, an administration building, and an outdoor learning and community center, with a total cost of approximately $22.3 million.

Mr. Shirley, the district's construction lead, presented the details of the complex, which will be located east of Rogers Middle School. The site will also reserve space for a future natatorium and potentially a performing arts center, depending on ongoing discussions with the city of Frisco.

The administration building is a significant aspect of the project, addressing current space limitations in the district's existing facilities. The current administration building, which has served the district for 60 years, is facing issues such as outdated infrastructure and insufficient space for staff and meetings. The new building aims to alleviate these concerns by providing a larger boardroom and additional professional development rooms, accommodating the growing needs of the district.

The outdoor learning and community center will serve as a versatile space for educational activities and community events. It is designed to replace the traditional fifth-grade science camp, offering a local alternative for students. The facility will include both indoor and outdoor learning areas, enhancing educational experiences for students from kindergarten through 12th grade.

Representatives from Pogue Construction, including Vice President Brandon Colquitt and Senior Project Manager James Pearson, expressed confidence in the project's competitive bidding process, which attracted numerous proposals. They emphasized the importance of this complex in supporting the district's growth and improving educational facilities.

The board's approval of the GMP marks a significant step forward in the district's development plans, aiming to enhance educational resources and community engagement in Prosper ISD.
