New Ulm City Council accepts library donations and approves liquor licenses for Sip and Shop

The New Ulm City Council meeting on May 20, 2025, focused on several key topics, including the acceptance of donations for the public library and police department, as well as the approval of temporary liquor licenses for a local event.

During the meeting, the council unanimously approved a resolution to accept various donations to the New Ulm Public Library for the period of April 1 to April 30, 2025. Notable contributions included $400 from the Friends of the New Ulm Public Library for a Wildberry subscription, $1,100 for children's programs, and $2,625 from Anoka County Library for acrylic magazine boxes. Additionally, the Optimist Club of New Ulm donated $557 for children's programs, including an annual public film screening license.

The council also accepted a $500 donation from the Optimist Club to support the New Ulm Night Out event scheduled for July 31, 2025. This event aims to foster community engagement and safety awareness.

In an addendum to the agenda, the council approved the issuance of two temporary on-sale intoxicating liquor licenses for the New Ulm Small Business Owners Group. These licenses will facilitate a "Sip and Shop" event on June 19, 2025, at two local businesses, Gallery 512 and Adesanya Floral and Gift.
