Colonel Wright fifth graders celebrate achievements with family night and graduation preparations

The North Wasco County School District 21 held its regular school board meeting on May 22, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, where various student representatives shared updates from their respective schools, highlighting recent activities and achievements.

The meeting commenced with fifth-grade representatives from Colonel Wright Elementary, who expressed their excitement about recent events. They reported on a successful ELD family night attended by over 2,000 people, where students showcased their talents. The students also celebrated their first-place win in a cherry festival float competition, participated in science projects, and engaged in various STEM activities with younger grades. They noted a temporary relocation of lunch due to a pipe burst in the gym but confirmed that the situation has improved.

Next, representatives from Kenwood Elementary shared updates, including the revival of the walking school bus program and outdoor PE activities due to seismic work in the gym. They also mentioned the creation of a fifth-grade yearbook and upcoming field day events.

Dry Hollow Elementary's representatives reported on a busy month filled with field trips, including a visit to a LEGO dinosaur exhibit and a talent show featuring over 30 participants. They highlighted the importance of teacher appreciation and shared plans for end-of-year activities.

Dallas Middle School representatives discussed various field trips, including outdoor school and a mural walk, and reported on a successful spring carnival that attracted 367 attendees. They also mentioned the conclusion of ASB elections and the success of spring clubs.

Finally, Innovations Academy's student representative reflected on the importance of student-led parent-teacher conferences and mental health resources fairs. They celebrated the school's student showcase and resilience rally, emphasizing community support and the significance of graduation for both high school seniors and eighth graders.
