Peoria honors civil rights leader Don Jackson at memorial service

Throughout his life, Jackson continued this legacy of activism, serving as president of the NAACP's Peoria branch for two decades and later as president of the Illinois State Conference of the NAACP from 2004 to 2011.

He co-founded Peoria's first African American law firm in the 1980s and was known for his work in labor law and civil rights, representing workers and unions in various cases.
