Pinal County Board approves San Tan Valley incorporation ballot for August 2025

The Pinal County Board of Supervisors held a special session on May 2, 2025, primarily to discuss the incorporation petition for San Tan Valley. The meeting was called to order with several members present, including Supervisor Gary Lacrone and Supervisor Sherry McCrone.

Garrett Glover from the Pinal County Elections Office presented significant findings regarding the incorporation petition. San Tan Valley submitted over 800 pages of petition sheets, which included more than 10,000 signatures. After a thorough review, the Elections Office confirmed that over 7,000 signatures were valid, surpassing the statutory minimum required to place the incorporation question on the ballot for the upcoming August 2025 election. This petition marks the largest incorporation effort in Arizona's history, exceeding previous efforts by cities such as Maricopa and Phoenix.

Glover expressed pride in the Elections Office's swift and accurate handling of the petition review process. He noted that the group seeking incorporation had also fulfilled other legal requirements, including obtaining necessary permissions from the State Land Department.

Following the presentation, the Board unanimously approved the resolution to place the incorporation question on the ballot. The meeting concluded shortly after, with no opposition to the motion.

This decision is a significant step for San Tan Valley, as it moves closer to potentially becoming an incorporated city, reflecting the community's growing population and desire for local governance.
