West Clermont Schools honor exceptional volunteers and cardiac response team

The West Clermont Schools Board of Education meeting held on May 19, 2025, commenced with a roll call and a unanimous vote to proceed with the agenda. The meeting featured several recognition segments, highlighting the contributions of staff, volunteers, and community members.

The first recognition was for Merwin Elementary's Cardiac Emergency Response Team (CERT), which has excelled in ensuring the safety of students and staff during cardiac emergencies. The team, comprised of CPR-certified staff, has developed a comprehensive emergency response plan and conducted practice drills in collaboration with Project Adam and Cincinnati Children's Hospital. The board expressed pride in the team's efforts and commitment to safety.

Next, the board recognized schools that received the Purple Star Award for their dedication to supporting military-connected students and families. Withamsville Tabasco Elementary School received the award for the first time, while Amelia, Merwin, and Willow Elementary Schools were renewed after three years of recognition. The board acknowledged the importance of these schools in creating a welcoming environment for military families.

Amelia Elementary's paraprofessionals were also honored for their vital role in supporting students and teachers. Their flexibility and dedication significantly impact student success, and several aides were called forward to receive recognition.

The meeting continued with the acknowledgment of the West Clermont Schools Volunteers of the Year. Each school principal introduced their respective volunteer, highlighting their contributions and dedication to the school community. Notable mentions included Joseph and Carrie Armstrong for their work on Veterans Day programs, Nancy Miller for her ongoing support at Willowville Elementary, and Laura Coas for her extensive volunteer efforts at West Clermont High School.

The meeting concluded with a heartfelt thank you from the board to all volunteers and staff for their unwavering commitment to the schools and students. A brief break was announced, allowing attendees to enjoy refreshments before resuming the meeting.
