Frisco's Library Receives Texas Excellence Award and Launches Summer Reading Programs

Frisco City Council celebrated a significant achievement at their May 6, 2025 meeting, as the Frisco Public Library was awarded the prestigious Texas Library of Excellence certification for 2025. Library Director Shelley Holly announced that this marks the library's continued success, having received the award every year since 2009. In addition to the award, Holly shared exciting news about the upcoming Summer Reading Program, set to kick off on May 21 and run through August 12. The program encourages children to read by offering prizes for reaching certain reading milestones, with hopes of surpassing last year's impressive total of over a million minutes read.

The meeting also featured updates from Play Frisco Director Shannon Coates, who introduced several upcoming community events, including the inaugural Bass Derby and a rebranded cycling event called "Cycle the City," aimed at promoting outdoor activity. The water park is set to open on May 24, with preparations underway to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for visitors.
