School Board reports 33% drop in harassment incidents during meeting

The Freehold Township Board of Education convened on May 27, 2025, to discuss various agenda items, including administrative updates and recent incidents of harassment, intimidation, and bullying within the district.

The meeting began with the Pledge of Allegiance and a roll call confirming a quorum. Following the approval of minutes from previous meetings, Board President acknowledged the lengthy agenda ahead.

One significant topic addressed was the upcoming fifth-grade moving-up ceremonies and middle school graduations. Board members were encouraged to indicate their availability for these events via a shared Google Doc to ensure proper recognition by school principals.

In a positive development, the Board reported a 33% reduction in incidents of harassment, intimidation, and bullying compared to the same period last year. Out of five reported incidents since the last meeting, three were founded, and two were unfounded, reflecting a commitment to improving school safety and student well-being.

Public participation was minimal, with only two attendees present, leading to a swift transition to the next agenda item concerning personnel policy and communications.

The meeting underscored the Board's ongoing efforts to enhance the educational environment and address student safety, setting a proactive tone for the upcoming school events.
